The EMMA3SL/HD and /SD video processing ICs enable users to build set-top boxes and digital TVs using the H.264 video compression standard with twice the compression ratio of MPEG2. The devices have all of the key functions needed to receive and decode digital broadcasts, including DSPs that enable Dolby Digital Plus or high-efficiency advanced audio coding (HE-AAC).
The chips have a six-channel video D/A converter, a USB 2.0 host controller, a 10/100 Ethernet MAC, and an HDMI interface. The plastic BGA596-packaged ICs use a 327-MHz MIPS32 24KEc core and have DDR2 and flash memory interfaces. (Ea/sample qty: EMMA3SL/SD, $40; EMMA3SL/HD, $50 — samples available now.)
