These unique very high energy density capacitors can store as much as 460 joules, allowing them to hold an electrical charge for as long as one hour for voltages ranging from 1.4V to 8.4V. Mouser Electronics has these Super Capacitors in stock already holding an electrical charge.
The new Vishay 196-HVC ENYCAP Capacitors, available from Mouser Electronics, are polarized very high energy density storage capacitors. These unique devices have energy densities as high as 13 joules/gram, higher than ultracapacitors and conventional capacitors, with power densities higher than fuel cells and conventional batteries. This combination of characteristics allows the ENYCAP to retain an electrical charge for much longer than conventional capacitors.
The ENYCAP is available in rated capacitances from 4.0 Farads to as high as 90 Farads in a package that is only 2.61 cm2. These high value capacitors are constructed using from one to four capacitor cells. A variety of flexible cell packaging options include stacked through‑hole, flat surface‑mount, and 2.5mm flat side‑by‑side configurations. Component attachment options include pin, tab, and connector. These capacitors offer a useful life span of up to 1000 hours at +85°C, can handle up to 100,000 charge/discharge cycles, and withstand surge voltages up to 9.6V.
These unique capacitors have soft charging characteristics of less than 1A, with a low leakage current after 24 hours of operation from just 0.03 to 0.24 mA. Vishay's unique design does not require cell balancing for multi-cell ENYCAPs.
