To date, PON PRO products have won over twenty designs worldwide with module manufacturers designing Optical Line Termination (OLT) and Optical Network Unit (ONU) applications for the FTTH market. Many of these are within the Asia-Pacific market, which leads the adoption and deployment of FTTH. KMI Research estimates that this region will account for more than 50 percent of the world market through 2010, when spending on fiber optic systems for broadband access is estimated to reach $21 billion USD.

“Vitesse's commitment to both OLT and ONU integrated circuit designs demonstrates their commitment to enable module makers, like Fiberxon, to effectively bring optical module products to market,” said Douglas Cheng, senior product marketing manager of Fiberxon. “Their latest products supporting the GPON OLT requirements are key to the overall deployment of PON systems in the next year.”
