Voice capture board optimized for Alexa applications

Cirrus Logic has made available a development kit for smart speakers and smart home applications built around the Alexa Voice Service (AVS) platform from Amazon. The use cases include voice-controlled devices, hands-free portable speakers, and networked speakers.
0118_Roundup_Cirrus_Dev-Kit The Voice Capture Development Kit for Amazon AVS enhances “Alexa” wake-word detection and audio capture in real-world conditions, even from moderate distances in noisy environments.

It comprises a two-microphone solution that allows the manufacturers of Alexa-enabled products to feature high-accuracy wake-word triggering and command interpretation even during loud music as well as Alexa response playback.

The design kit includes a reference board that features Cirrus Logic’s CS47L24 smart codec, CS7250B digital MEMS microphones, and SoundClear algorithms for voice control, noise suppression, and echo cancellation.

It’s a complete design solution that includes a voice-capture board with the high-performance two-microphone array, Raspberry Pi 3 (RP3), speaker, and a microSD card preloaded with all the firmware required for instant productivity.

Next, Cirrus Logic’s control console simplifies the operation of the various RP3 applications and provides a user-friendly interface for acoustic tuning and diagnostic functions. Schematic design and bill of material (BOM) in the voice-capture reference board are developed for use in most AVS applications with minimal customization.
