Voltage comparator integrates preamp and output driver
Silicon-gate electrically programmable technology enables industry-standard pinout compatibility, targeting industrial controls and precision instruments
The ALD2331/ALD2331A/ALD2331B dual-precision CMOS voltage comparators are offered as the industry’s first integrated precision preamplifier and output driver. Using the company’s proprietary EPAD (electrically programmable analog device) technology, the components are integrated and die-size reduced to provide a device with an industry-standard 8-pin SOIC package. The typical input offset voltages are 0.2 mV (ALD2331A), 0.5 mV (ALD2331B) and 1 mV (ALD2331).
Designers no longer need a precision preamp with these devices because they only require 100 mV for performing offset comparison. The comparators target high-performance, high-precision analog applications such as low-level signal detection circuits that require low stand-by power and high-output current capability. The devices feature a 1,012 -Ω typ input impedance with an input bias current of 10 pA and a response time of 750 ns with a 10-mV input step signal. The comparator also features power dissipation of 55 µA and single 5-V or dual power supply operation. The input voltage of the devices include ground, suiting it for low-level signal detection with high source impedance. (From $1.47 ea/1,000 — available now.)
