VPX board has Virtex-5 FPGA and 8640 CPU

The VPX3-450 Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA-based 3U VPX (VITA 46/48) compute engine features an AltiVec-enabled dual-core Freescale 8640 processor for command and control functions and high-speed floating-point calculations. The FPGA has 512 Mbytes of DDR2 SDRAM, 36 Mbytes of QDR-II+ SRAM, two 4-lane 3.125-GHz serial links to the backplane, and 18 pairs of discrete LVDS signals to the backplane.

The board’s PCIe switch has eight lanes to the processor, four to the FPGA, eight to the XMC site, and four to the backplane. The processor has up to 1 Gbyte of DDR2 with ECC and 256 Mbytes of flash along with two GbE and two RS-232 interfaces. (From $12,850 — available 1st qtr 2009.)
