W. L. Gore & Associates’ PolyVent Stainless Steel and PolyVent InSet

Enclosure vents offer design choices

Two enclosure vents let users decide the type and performance level that their systems require. The GORE PolyVent Stainless Steel PMF200444 offers premium-level durability under the most challenging conditions in the field, while the GORE PolyVent InSet PMF200271 provides easy, cost-effective and nearly invisible integration.

Designed for screw-in installation and a tight, reliable seal to the housing, The PolyVent Stainless Steel’s vent body, cap, and membrane-sealing technology use only 100% 1.4404 (316L) stainless steel, while the membrane, made of 100% ePTFE, performs with no backing material. Materials and construction provide resistance to both corrosion and chemicals and cleaners, including acid-, leach-, and oxidative-based chemicals, as well as high flammability resistance (non-flammable stainless steel; UL 94 VTM-0 membrane, and UL 94 V-0 silicone O-ring). The 5.65-mm-high, 9.25-g unit’s operating temperature range is −40°C to 125°C, and it complies with IP69K.

Capable of being installed from either the inside or outside of the housing, the PolyVent InSet offers greater production-line flexibility. When inside-mounted, all that’s visible from the outside is a 1-mm vent hole, which can improve design aesthetics. Snap-in installation simplifies both automated and manual production. Designed for enclosure volumes up to two liters, the unit meets a range of demanding industrial standards, including IP66, IP67, and IP68.
