Sure, the Living Wallet might look like your normal, everyday wallet, but if you take a closer look, you’ll see that it’s anything but — this cash carrier comes equipped with wheels on the side that allow it to run (technically, roll) away from its owner when he or she shouldn’t be spending money.
The wallet pairs up with bookkeeping app “Zaim” and works with Android, iPhones, iPads, and on the web, too. It can be set to one of two modes: Save Mode and Consumption Mode. When it’s locked into the former, it uses a series of amusing tricks to try and curb the owner’s spending habits. One way is by slowly rolling away on its wheels when someone reaches for it. If picked up during its escape, the wallet (quite loudly) yells for help, saying “No! Don’t touch me! Help!”
If that STILL doesn’t stop the owner from taking money out of the wallet, the device will resort to calling or emailing the user’s mother.
If, on the other hand, the owner is a bit more fiscally conservative, the wallet can be set to “Consumption Mode”. When it’s in this state, the Living Wallet plays Beethoven music and recites popular products on Amazon.
No details have emerged on whether this wallet is definitely for sale or if it was just created as a one-off prototype. To see it in action, check out the Living Wallet video below (yes, there are English subtitles throughout):
