Watch this map of cyberattacks happening right now, in real time

These days, you’re not only at risk of being attacked by a burglar on the street or by other countries at war, but you’re also at risk in cyberspace, thanks to the growing world and capability of the Internet.

Sometimes we write these cyber threats off because they are not always apparent to the naked eye or because we can’t feel the effects if they don’t happen to us personally.

Norse Corporation, a security and anti-fraud solutions company, has developed a real-time geographic map to show us global hacking attempts in real time and to make it more tangible for us.

From the map, conclusions can be drawn that China and the United States are involved in a raging cyberwar.

The map shows who is attacking who by using data collected from a network of servers maintained by Norse.

The company uses what are called “honeypot” servers, which act as traps to gather data about hacks.

You can clearly see when an attack is being launched from China, such as the one shown below aimed at Seattle, WA on Monday afternoon from Hong Kong.
