Looking for a wireless drive for all of your devices? Secure and portable, the Western Digital (WD) My Passport Wireless is a hard drive about the size of a paperback book, and it can connect up to eight different devices simultaneously via Wi-Fi, so you can access your music, pictures, videos, and files no matter where your life takes you.
Though it was designed to work with mobile devices, the drive also works with PCs and Macs. When paired with the WD My Cloud app, you can transfer files back and forth, automatically back up photos and videos, and play back large media files, all while letting you keep your device storage relatively free.
Equipped with dual-antenna multiple-input-multiple-output tech, My Passport Wireless can transfer data at up to 80 megabits per second, and the drive’s battery can last for six hours of continuous streaming.
If you’re a photographer, you get an extra bonus: an SD card slot that can offload the contents of the card automatically. It can be set up to quickly transfer pictures and then erase the card, letting you get back to capturing images. Also included is a USB 3.0 port for high-speed transfers.
Although keeping your data on WD’s wireless drive doesn’t make it unhackable, someone would have to do much more than guess your iCloud password.
