Deemed the world’s easiest drone to fly, the Ghost Aerial 1.0 Drone created by Ehang Inc. can be fully controlled via smartphone. Users can command the aircraft to take off, return, and unlock with just one click.
The drone’s gimbal is made with aircraft aluminum alloy, allowing it to handle a 1080P HD sports camera. Its pre-installed propeller guards can be removed to reduce the total weight of the device, while also increasing the flight time.
With a wingspan of 370 mm, at 190 mm high, weighing 22.9oz, the Ghost Drone has a flight range of up to 1000 meters. It comes with a specifically-labelled battery, 5400 mAh 3S 11.1V Lipo that uses an XT60 connector. When equipped with a GoPro camera and 2-D gimbal, the Ghost Drone can only fly up to 20 minutes. But without them, it can reach up to 30 minutes of flight time.
To fly the Ghost Drone, pilots use the app on their tablets or smartphones and simply press the button for it to take off. Once in the air, users can maneuver it in any direction on the GPS map by sliding the button up or down; sliding the button left or right will change its altitude or direction. On the GPS map, you’ll be able to follow its progress. The flight time, battery level, speed, height, and number of satellites are all displayed at the top of the app. To get the drone to return, users simply press the designated button and the device will fly back.
Available for both Android and iOS, the Ghost Drone comes in three different colors and can be purchased for $599. The full teardown report, supplied by TechInsights, can be found here.
