While there are a number of action cams currently on the market, not many of them are waterproof without a housing. Some can’t even be mounting without a casing. However, the iON Air Pro 2 is both mountable and waterproof without a housing – users can dive down 30 feet underwater and the device will still function properly.
At 1.5-in x 1.5-in x 4.3-in, weighing just 4.6 ounces, the device has CMOS image sensors with a 14-megapixel resolution and an updated lens on the front that expands the camera’s field of view up to 180 degrees. The iON Air Pro 2 can record at 1080p or 720p, each at 30 frames per second; 720p at 60fps; and 960p at 30fps. The camera takes still shots at 3-, 5-, 14-, and 16-megapixel resolutions, as well as a 10-shot burst at 5-megapixels. Additionally, users can take time-lapse photos at 5, 10, 30, and 60 seconds.
While no microSD card is included, it does support 32GB, so users will need to get one before they start recording. However, there is an extra 8GB of cloud storage space powered by MiMedia that you can use for both backup and sharing clips and photos online.
The device is Wi-Fi compatible and comes equipped with a Li-ion rechargeable battery for up to 2.5 hours of video recording. It is available at retail for $199.99.
