What’s inside: iPhone SE

A breakdown of the company’s newest smaller smartphone.

While Apple’s iPhone SE looks like an older-model iPhone, it comes packed with nearly all of the same specs as the 6S and 6S Plus. At 123.9 mm long, 58.88 mm wide, and 7.7 mm thick, the smartphone comes equipped with a 4-inch 1136×640 (326 ppi) retina display with multi-touch screen. It features 16- or 64-GB MLC NAND Flash, 2 GB of mobile LPDDR4 SDRAM, and a 1.85-GHz, dual-core Apple A9 64-bit processor with an embedded M9 motion coprocessor.

What’s most notable about the smartphone is its battery life. It’s the best of any current iPhone with 12−13 hours of video playback, versus the 6S and 6S Plus at 10−11 hours. The SE also has 240 hours of standby time.

Its sensors include a 6-Axis MEMS gyroscope, accelerometer, electronic compass, fingerprint (Touch ID), IR proximity, ambient, and light. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, Lightning Connector, and GPS /A-GPS/GLONASS. The iPhone SE is available in space gray, silver, gold, and rose gold.
