It probably sounds absolutely absurd to purchase an iPhone 5 for over $90,000, but if you happen to be addicted to a now obsolete game and this iPhone 5 comes equipped with this game, you may reconsider.
Or not — but people are taking to eBay to purchase both iPhones and Android devices that come with the game Flappy Bird for some pretty outrageous prices.
eBay listings for devices that have the Flappy Bird game already installed.
The Flappy Bird game is no longer available for download for either Apple or Google users.
On Saturday night, the game’s creator, Ngyuen Ha Dong from Vietnam, announced on Twitter that in 22 hours he would be taking the popular game down. Dong assured users that it was not a result of any legal issues.
“I cannot take this anymore,” he Tweeted.
Dong's warning on Twitter.
He does consider the game a success, which it probably was since it’s reported that the developer was making about $50,000 per day in advertising revenue.
Dong took to Twitter on Saturday.
So now, people have taken to the Internet to make some money off of what was once a free downloadable game.
One seller kristenater91 acquired 71 bids on an iPhone 5 with the game installed. So far the phone has reached over $95,000 in bids with nine hours left in the auction at the time this article was written (it should be stated that some of these bids could be fake).
Other pretty outrageous eBay listings include an iPhone 5S equipped with Flappy Bird for $5,000 and an iPhone 4S with the installed game for $4,500.
