Compatible with standard 802.11b/g Wi-Fi access points, the WSN802G Wi-Fi sensor-networking module consumes less than 200 mA in active mode and less than 8 μA in sleep mode. The user-programmable part offers data rates of 1 and 2 Mbits/s and a configurable automatic I/O reporting capability. It also integrates the Gainspan GS1010 SoC and can allow up to 5 years of battery life on a single AA lithium cell battery.
Operating in the 2.4-GHz ISM band at 10 mW RF power, the WSN802G also features receive sensitivity of –92 dBm at 1 Mbit/s and –90 dBm at 2 Mbit/s. Typical transmission ranges are 50 m indoors and 250 m outdoors. ($39 ea/10,000 — available now.)
