Wideband amps feature low phase noise

Ideal for military, space, test equipment, and fiber-optic applications from 2 to 18 GHz, the HMC606 and HMC606LC5 GaAs InGaP HBT MMIC distributed amplifiers deliver a typical small-signal gain of 13.5 dB, and input and output return losses of 20 dB at midband. Measured with a 1-dBm input signal at 4 GHz, the parts offer a phase noise performance of 153 dBc/Hz and 157 dBc/Hz at 1- and 10-kHz offset, respectively.

In addition, the amplifiers offer a midband noise figure of 4.5 dB and an output P1 dB of 15 dBm, while their self-biased topology consumes only 64 mA from a 5-V single supply. The HMC606LC5 is housed in a ceramic leadless surface-mount package and specified for operation over –40° to 85°C. (E-mail sales for pricing—available now.)
