Place a bunch of WigWags throughout your home, activate them, fiddle around with an easy to use phone app, and reap the benefits of automated lighting, climate-controlled air conditioning, motion detection that messages you when a package has been deliver, and much more. Living in the future is really that easy.
How does WigWag work?
WigWag establishes intelligent environments without requiring advanced IT knowledge. The device automatically detects any smart-enabled device within the home and displays it in a graphical interface that’s manipulated using if-statements ( If X then Y.) If the door opens, then the lights turn on. If the doorbell rings, then shut the lights off. If it’s Friday night, then a disco ball is lowered. Establishing rules is merely a matter of filling-in the blanks using graphical representations in the phone application rather than coding the actual IF statement.
A relay device is included in each WigWag suite to maintain household coverage and access WigWag’s cloud service, allowing email, DropBox, and Twitter commands to be built into the rule set. For example, an email can be sent every time one of your children trips the motion detector near your expensive collection of unopened action figures or baseball cards.
The sensor block
The sensor block detects and measure temperature, sound, motion, light, movement, contact closure, and infrared. It features a total of eight environmental sensors and four control features, permitting it to control things such as electronic relays and IR devices. Furthermore, two expansions slots allow the block to be upgraded with contact sensors and plant moisture probes; now you can receive automated text message alerts whenever your plants get thirsty.
Multiple sensors and alert mechanisms are included into each sensor unit
A unified system
Setting up a unified a system is extremely easy to do even if the individual components originate from different vendors. As previously mentioned, WigWag will automatically detect all localized smart devices in the home. Nevertheless, WigWag categorizes these objects by type regardless of vendor, ensuring consistency throughout. For example, WigWag will sort all smart bulbs under the general bulb category even if one is from GE while the other is Phillips.
The more WigWags sensors are in your home, the more accurate the readings. Consider that temperature readings from multiple sources will produce an average temperature that’s better reflective of the overall environment than data gathered from a single WigWag.
Set up is a breeze
Once you’ve selected a place to store your WigWag, it’s activated by scanning a QR code using a smart phone. There’s no need for any password, pairing, or SSID. Unlike alternative automation systems, WigWag’s behavior is extremely easy to modify. Rules can run in a loop, a single time, or remain paused until the appropriate command is given.
