Suited for 3.3 to 3.9-GHz wireless-broadband systems, the MAX2838 WiMAX RF transceiver eliminates the costly SAW filter and extra VCO circuitry. It is housed in a 48-pin TQFN package and features a 2.8-dB receiver noise figure, −11-dBm input IP3, and −39-dBc integrated VCO phase noise, while consuming only 288-mW of power.
The receiver has a 94-dB gain-control range, digitally controlled in 2-dB steps, and the transmitter offers a 60- dB gain-control range, digitally controlled in 1-dB steps. Receiver EVM is better than -35 dB, and sideband suppression is greater than 45 dB. The MAX2838 has a master/slave mode that allows implementation of a MIMO 1 x 2 or 2 x 2 system using two MAX2838 ICs dB. ($8.13 ea/1,000—available now.)
