Wireless 16K EEPROM harvests energy

The M24LR16E low power, low cost 16-Kbit EEPROM has both 13.56-MHz ISO15693 near-field-communications RF and I2C interfaces. The RF interface can harvest ambient radio waves emitted by RFID reader-writers and convert those waves into a voltage output that may be used to power other electronic components.

The device has a 64-bit unique identifier, and uses a 1.8 to 5.5 V supply. It’s low-power I2C interface operates at 400 kHz and the IC comes in SO8, UFDFPN8, TSSOP8, and wafer packages. The chip takes 220 µA in write and 30 µA in standby. ($0.60 ea/1,000 — available now.)
