Wireless switch system uses energy harvesting

Sometime this summer, Cherry will be rolling out wireless switch products with energy harvesting. Their energy harvesting generator (pictured here) will be out first – expected late Q1. The small (20.3 x 7.3 x 15.8 mm) generator will supply 330 µJ minimum. It will be designated the AFIG-0003.

The wireless part the system will have a reach (within buildings, typically) of 30 m at 868 or 915 MHz and 10 m at 2.4 GHz. The RF will be on a small board with an antenna that attaches to the generator. This in turn can be attached to a number if switch assemblies. Look for a full line roll out by the end of summer.
