Wirewound power inductor boosts current rating
6 x 6 x 2.8-mm device meets miniaturization needs for dc/dc converter choke coils in display applications
Part of the NR6028 family of wirewound power inductors, the 10-µH NR6028-100M boosts rated current to 1.90 A — a 36% improvement over the company’s previous versions. The inductors measure 6 x 6 x 2.8 mm to meet the need for higher-current capacity, lower DCR, and smaller size for dc/dc converter choke coils in LCDs, plasma TVs, and other flat-panel displays.
The increase in current capability is achieved by improvements to standard round drum/sleeve core technology. A unique sleeveless, square-core winding was developed for the NR series that eliminates wasted space and thickens the lead wire inside the inductor to achieve the lowest possible dc resistance.
Products in the line are available in inductances from 0.9 to 100 µH, DCR from 0.013 to 0.6 Ω, and saturation currents from 6.60 to 0.62 A. ($0.20 ea/prod qty — 2 weeks ARO.)
