The flameproof SP3A axially leaded wirewound resistor series provides robust surge handling and fail-safe fusing. Rated at 3 W at 70C, it withstands hundreds of 3-kV pulses of 50 µs or less without fail or significant resistance shift. In overload conditions, the SP3A fuses quickly without flame or significant self-heating.
Its unique materials and processes focus the energy of the continuous overload to quickly open the resistance wire while retaining the pulse handling normally provided by the wirewound element.
