Would you wear smart socks if they could prevent injuries?

Sensoria smart socks have embedded sensors that track users’ workouts

From smart watches, to smart trenches, to the Nike+ FuelBand activity tracker, people appear to love the trend of wearable technology. These gadgets are fashionable, functional, and completely alter the way we interact with the world. Sensoria smart socks are the most recent innovation that we can add to the wearable tech tutelage.

The start-up company, Heapsylon, has developed a line of wearable technology geared towards fitness-minded individuals who are looking for a more efficient workout. Fitness buffs will purchase the Sensoria “smart socks” to use as companions to track their movements while exercising.

Sensors embedded in the socks can detect if your steps are using proper foot-landing techniques, or if the user is overexerting energy during workouts. The socks will also enable people to avoid missteps and injuries while jogging. The gear will also inform the wearer of his/her progress in motivation level and competency while exercising. Sensoria socks will update the user with stats of how many calories burned, how far, and the duration of activity.

The Sensoria sock consists of a washable smart sock and an electronic anklet that magnetically attaches to the sock’s cuff. A correlating application for your smartphone tracks the user’s steps and pace, as audio cues will inform the wearer in real-time about his/her workout. With Bluetooth communication, the anklet collects data from the sock’s sensors and sends that information to the user’s smartphone.

The wearable tech company, Heapsylon, has an entire line of smart-fabric products. This includes sports bras and washable smart t-shirts that can measure your heart-rate.

Heapsylon proclaimed that “in the near future, most pieces of clothing will come with embedded microelectronics and sensors. Our vision is that 'The Garment is the Computer.'” Heapsylon hopes to expand the boundaries of wearable technology, taking the necessary steps of bringing their tech brand to the next level.
