XMC modules combine 3-Gsample/s A/D, fast FPGA
Virtex-5 FPGA provides processing power and 16 3.2-Gbit/s serial transceivers
Targeting demanding real-time applications such as electronic countermeasures, radar, and telecommunications, two XMC modules combine a high-speed A/D converter and high-performance FPGA. The AD3000 and AD1500 have single-channel 3-Gsample/s and dual-channel 1.5-Gsample/s A/D conversion, respectively.
Both modules have an FPGA back-end with either a Virtex-5 SX95T or LX110T directly connected to the analog input. The FPGA is connected to two 8-Mbyte QDRII SRAM memory banks capable of accepting the incoming data at full speed from the ADC, and two 128-Mbyte banks of DDR2 SDRAM.
Off-board data links are provided using PCI-X or PCI via the PMC connectors or high-speed Virtex-5 RocketIO transceivers using the XMC connectors. Sixteen full-duplex low-power serial transceivers can each operate at 3.2 Gbits/s. (From $13,000available 3rd qtr.)
