Allegro rolls out motor drivers for 48-V battery systems

Allegro MicroSystems has released a suite of Grade 0 motor drivers with advanced safety diagnostics and ultra-small packages for 48-V battery systems.

Allegro MicroSystems has expanded its portfolio of 48-V products to meet growing demand in the electric vehicle market. The new products consist of 80-V motor drivers in ultra-small packages for advanced 48-V automotive systems. The new suite of fully integrated gate drivers deliver optimized performance that impacts vehicle weight, battery/fuel efficiency, and driver safety.

The new devices with advanced safety diagnostics meet any load configuration from half-bridge with independent high-side and low-side outputs to three-phase brushless DC (BLDC) control.  Offering multiple topologies, these devices can support various loads (up to 10 kW) from catalytic heaters and actuators to electric power steering (EPS) and braking applications.

These devices were developed on a high-voltage process node for 48-V systems, and offer safety diagnostics and diagnostic verification enabled with a fully compliant ISO 26262 process.
