Dialight rolls out new SMD LED indicator series

The LED indicators offer tighter intensity binning, improved visibility, and ESD protection

By Gina Roos, editor-in-chief

Dialight has released its new 597 SMD series of LED indicators , comprised of four new products. The new indicators offer tighter intensity binning, reduced light bleed, and electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection for high-performance electronics, networking, and control panel applications, said the company.

The new 597 SMD products include:

  • The 0603 Tighter Intensity Binning Series  claims greater product intensity uniformity and better consistency. The series offers two intensity bins max on green, blue, and white LEDs and one intensity bin max on red, red-orange, orange, yellow, and yellow-green LEDs.
  • The 0603 Domed Lens Series  with a 60° viewing angle is suited for light pipe applications. The narrow viewing angle reduces light bleed in applications using multiple Optopipe light pipes and offers increased on-axis intensity versus non-domed products of the same size, said Dialight. The series is available in seven colors.
  • The 0805 Reflector Cup Series  provides a 110° viewing angle and nine color choices. The built-in reflector cup projects light wider for better visibility while reducing bleed in light pipe applications and on front panel displays, according to the company.
  • The 0603, 0606, 0805, 1206 Series with integrated Zener Diode  is designed for ESD protection. Applications include handheld and portable equipment, ID tags, and other movable applications that are at risk of ESD exposure. The ZD series’ built-in transient voltage suppressor provides Human Body Model Class 2 ESD protection for up to 4,000 V. This series guards against both instant, catastrophic failure caused by ESD and minor ESD damage that causes performance degradation over time, said Dialight.

Products are available to global customers.
