RIGOL ruggedizes arbitrary function generators

RIGOL Technologies has expanded its line of 16-bit arbitrary function generators with a new series aimed at more rugged and industrial applications

By Gina Roos, editor-in-chief

RIGOL Technologies expanded its portfolio of 16-bit generators with the new DG2000 series of arbitrary function generators to meet the requirements of more rugged and industrial applications. The DG2000 delivers the same performance specifications and feature set as RIGOL’s popular DG900 series generators. But the DG2000 is housed in a ruggedized mechanical package with a UI appropriate for manufacturing and automated industrial applications.

The DG2000 series comes in three models ranging from 50 MHz to 100 MHz, which makes them suitable for mainstream requirements. In addition to 16-bit resolution the DG2000 includes all of the same advanced SiFi II point-to-point sampling capabilities as the DG900. Other features include dual tone, harmonics, and sequencing for generation capabilities for filter, noise, and RF testing.

Simple communications traffic generation is enabled with pseudo-random bit streams and integrated RS232 patterns, which makes testing control and communications links easier, according to the company.

The DG2000 also includes network/LAN capability for instrument automation and control, as well as a hybrid user interface, adding popular function buttons and controls to the front panel that work with the standard touch-screen interface. Rack-mount kits are available for mounting into systems and automated environments.

The DG2052 (50 MHz), DG2072 (70 MHz), and DG2102 (100 MHz) can be ordered now with lead times of about 4 weeks. Prices start at $599.
