The LUXEON HL2X LED from Lumileds has claimed the highest flux and efficiency in an industry-standard 3535 package. The LED targets several lighting applications, including streetlights, outdoor area fixtures, sports lighting, high impact retail lighting, and indoor area lighting.
The LUXEON HL2X enables fixture manufacturers to meet the requirements of DLC Premium V5.1 . The LED delivers more “field-usable lumens,” with 318+ lumens at 700 mA and 85°C, said Alvin Yeoh, senior product marketing manager at Lumileds, in a statement. The HL2X LED offers more usable light for streetlights and outdoor area fixtures thanks to improvements in beam angle, field angle, color over angle, and optical efficiency to give engineers “better quality of light than has been previously possible,” he added.
The LED’s low thermal resistivity substrate, <2.6°C/W, shrinks the size of heat sinks and simplifies the thermal design of fixtures. Superior color over angle — <40 pts — ensures high uniformity in the application, said Lumileds.
The LUXEON HL2X is available in a standard 3.5 × 3.5-mm (3535) three-stripe footprint, which is optically compatible with the LUXEON TX LED for a low-touch upgrade. The LED is available across a range of color temperatures from 2,700K to 6,500K and 70 CRI. The company expects to offer 80 CRI and 90 CRI options for indoor applications in the coming months.
